- Karns City Area School District
KCASD Update -- October 7, 2020
Dear Karns City Area Parents/Guardians:
We have been informed that several individuals within our school district have tested positive for COVID-19. Four of these individuals are members of the High School community and two are members of the Chicora Elementary School community.
The safety of our students, faculty, staff, families and entire community is incredibly important to us. We have consulted with medical professionals from Butler Health System as well as the PA Department of Health to determine the best way to continue to educate our students. Based on their investigation and contract tracing, we have been advised that we are able to remain open for in-person instruction at this time.
We will continue to monitor COVID-19 school and community data and make adjustments to our mode of operation, if necessary.
In order to make our schools as safe as possible for our students and staff, we need your cooperation. Please complete the self-check with your child every day before reporting to school. If the answer is YES to any of the questions, it may be necessary for your child to stay at home. Click Here to Access the Self-Health Check.
Students and staff must wear a face covering when they are at school and on the bus, practice six feet of social distancing to the fullest extent possible and wash their hands with warm soapy water regularly throughout the day. When hand washing is not available, students and staff should use the hand sanitizing stations that are stationed throughout our schools.
In addition, we will continue to clean high-touch surfaces throughout the day and conduct a deep-cleaning using electrostatic disinfectant sprayers in the evening.
As always, the heath and wellness of our students and staff is a top priority at Karns City Area School District. Please take a minute to review the updates to our daily procedures that were shared at the beginning of this school year.
Thank you for your support.
Eric Ritzert, Superintendent
