Students at Sugarcreek Elementary had the opportunity to participate in the National Rock Your School event this fall. With a “Get Your Glow On” theme, students participated in glow in the dark activities to practice ELA, math, art, social skills, motor skills, and teamwork.
Some activities included glow tic-tac-toe identifying letters and sounds in teams, creativity by using glow sticks and pipe cleaners to create, an obstacle course with glow tape, highlighter art and many more. The students were encouraged to wear white and neon colors to go along with their GLOW hats, VIP Guest Passes, and glow sticks. The teachers mixed the 4 classes together and rotated through 8 different centers.
Get Your Teach On (GYTO) focuses on professional development for educators and are well-known for their passion of celebrating teachers and ability to inspire! GYTO encourages rigorous academics sparked with creativity to engage students by creating and learning.
Thanks to DeAnn Pistorius, Jen Hammonds, Kim Wimer, April McMillen, Janet Parker, Sherry Sypulski, Michele King, and Melissa Hogan for making this event possible for Sugarcreek students!
