Karns City Student Raises Nearly $14,000 for The Highmark Caring Place

Chloe Fritch, a student at Karns City High School, is making a significant impact in her community. Inspired by a visit to The Highmark Caring Place with her classmates in the fall, Chloe turned her compassion into action, rallying the community for a cause close to her heart. On January 19th, she organized a bingo fundraiser at the Chicora Moose as part of her National Honor Society project, raising an impressive $6,936 for The Highmark Caring Place. The organization later matched the funds, bringing the total donation to nearly $14,000.

Thanks to Chloe’s efforts and the generosity of event attendees, her fundraiser will provide vital support to children, adolescents, and families grieving the loss of a loved one. Well done, Chloe!

Spreading kindness, one cup at a time!

Students in Mrs. Kelly Sadowski and Ms. Carolyn Kelly’s classroom at Karns City Area Elementary School, opened the “Sunshine Station,"a coffee and snack shack for teachers. Teachers were given the opportunity to order a drink (with the choices of tea, iced coffee or water), creamer or no creamer, sugar or no sugar, and a snack (chips or biscotti), and students then filled each order and delivered it to the staff.

This month the station was focused on kindness, and each student wrote encouraging messages on the cups. Students then practiced using their social skills when delivering. Teachers told students that giving someone something can feel good and is a kind thing to do! Students enjoyed writing the uplifting notes, and seeing staff smile with each delivery.
