Welcome to Karns City Area School District! We are happy to have you and your family with us this year! 

At Karns City, we are committed to preparing students to be successful. We look forward to supporting you through your child's educational journey. We will work with you to ensure your child experiences positive academic, social and emotional growth.

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, I encourage you to contact your child's teacher or principal. We hope that you quickly feel at home and become involved in some of the many activities available to you. 

At the time of registration, you will need to present the following documents:

• A copy of your child's proof of age (example: birth certificate).
• A copy of your child's immunization records (must meet PA immunization requirements).
• Two current proofs of residency (examples: mortgage statement, rental agreement, utility bill, etc.).
• A custody agreement (only if applicable).

You will need to complete the following documents in order for your child's enrollment to be completed. These forms can be found in our enrollment packet.

• Admission Form
• Transportation Form
• Home Language Survey
• Emergency and Health Information Form
• Health History
• Physical Examination (PA required upon original entry, 6th, 11th and non-PA residents)
• Dental Examination (PA required upon original entry, 3rd, 7th and non-PA residents)

Upon completion of this process, a student will be admitted to Karns City for class attendance and receive a schedule, homeroom assignment and all necessary materials to make their transition as smooth as possible.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open! If your child will be five years old by September 1, 2026, it's time to register for kindergarten! 

Our kindergarten fact sheet includes information to help families through the kindergarten enrollment process. It also includes dates of important upcoming events for incoming kindergarten students.

Winter Welcome

Karns City Area School District will host a kindergarten orientation event for children who reside in the district and plan to attend kindergarten during the 2026–2027 school year. The event will take place on March 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Karns City Area Elementary School.

During the visit, future kindergarten students will participate in fun, age-appropriate activities, while parents and guardians receive important information about the kindergarten registration process and school procedures. The goal of this event is to welcome incoming students and their families, help children become comfortable in the school environment, and provide families with an opportunity to ask questions. Karns City Area School District values strong family–school partnerships and believes these connections play an important role in student success.

Kindergarten Camp

All students entering kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year are welcome and encouraged to attend Karns City Kindergarten Camp!

Kindergarten Camp will take place on July 21, 22, & 23, 2026 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm each day.

Transportation will be provided for all students. Information will be sent at a later date.
