John Burnett, Head Athletic Trainer
A native of Boardman Ohio, John attended Youngstown State University and graduated in 1987 with a Bachlor of Science in Education and a K-12 health and physical education teaching certification. As a student athletic trainer at YSU, John worked with many of the intercollegiate athletic teams and worked as a summer assistant athletic trainer with the Cleveland Browns.
He continued his education, earning a Masters of Science in Athletic Training from Ohio University in 1988 while serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Athens High School. After receiving his Master's Degree, John moved to Pennsylvania and accepted a position with Butler Physical Therapy as a clinical outreach athletic trainer for the Butler Area School District from 1988-1997 and the Karns City Area School District from 1997-1999.
In 1999, John was hired by Karns City as a health and physical education instructor and the school district's first Certified Athletic Trainer. John developed the student athletic trainer aide program as well as the Sports Health and Advanced Physical Fitness classes.
John has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 1984 and received his Athletic Training Certification in 1988. He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer in Pennsylvania and has served as the Butler County delegate to the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society. In addition, John is an American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED instructor and has been an Approved Clinical Instructor/Preceptor for the Slippery Rock University Athletic Training Program since 2004.
John and his wife Carol reside in Saxonburg PA and have two children, Noah and Rachel.

Kelly Hilliard, School Nurse
Kelly has been employed as the Certified School Nurse at Karns City Jr/Sr High School since 2013. She is an alumni of KCHS and resides in Chicora with her husband Jay and son Cole. Kelly also has a daughter, Laken, who resides with her husband in Renfrew.
Kelly is a 1995 alumni of the BC3 nursing program. After obtaining her nursing degree, she furthered her education by completing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Slippery Rock University and the Master of Science in Nursing at Carlow University.
Before being employed for the district, the majority of Kelly’s nursing career was at Butler Memorial Hospital. Kelly has 23 years seniority at BMH and currently is still employed on a casual basis in the Emergency Department as a staff nurse. While at BMH, she gained over 20+ years of experience as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. Kelly also has past experience in Cardiology, Dialysis, Nursing Education, and as a Clinical Supervisor. Along with her hands-on nursing experience, Kelly has also taught nursing curriculum for Butler County Community College and was part of a team at BMH to educate the nursing staff on current evidence based practices in health care.
Accompanied with her nursing experience, Kelly holds and maintains several certifications such as CPR via the American Heart Association; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support), also through the American Heart Association. Other certifications that she currently maintains are ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) along with being certified by the state as a SANE Nurse (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner).
Kelly is a member of the National Society of Nursing, the Slippery Rock Alumni Association, and the Butler County School Nurses Association.
Kelly works simultaneously with the athletic trainers, guidance office, and staff to ensure that every student has their medical needs met while attending school so that they can not only stay healthy but also achieve their educational goals.
Dr. Jason Clark, School /Team Physician, D.O.
Dr Jason Clark provides expert treatment in all aspects of Orthopedic Sports Medicine, as well as, general orthopedic conditions. Dr Clark is fellowship trained in the surgical and non-surgical management of advanced shoulder and elbow conditions. Dr Clark sees patients in his Butler Office at 480 East Jefferson Street.

Jonathan Burns, Physician's Assistant, PA-C
Jonathan is a graduate of Karns City High School having graduated in 2008. He participated in several sports at Karns City including soccer, basketball, cross country, and track. After graduating from Karns City High School, he attended Saint Francis University enrolling in the physician assistant program. He graduated from the physician assistant program in 2013 with his master’s degree in physician assistant sciences. He has been working as a physician assistant in orthopedics for 4 years now. Special interests including sports medicine, joint replacement, and fracture care. His responsibilities include seeing patients in the office, as well as, assisting Dr. Clark and Dr. Spingola with surgeries.
Ryan Williams, Physician's Assistant, PA-C
A native of Columbiana Ohio, Ryan graduated from Columbiana High School in 2008 where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. He graduated in 2012 from Waynesburg University earning a Bachelor of Science, majoring in exercise science/physiology while being a four year letterman and senior captain of the football team. In 2014, Ryan graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Arts, completing professional prerequisite course work. In 2018, he graduated from the Physician Assistant program at Slippery Rock University with his Masters Degree in Physician Assistant studies. Ryan joined BHS Orthopedics in 2018, and is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, management and treatment of orthopedic and sports medicine conditions.
