High School News
Welcome to Karns City Area Jr/Sr High School and the 2018-2019 school year. The start of a new school year brings with it new students to the building as we welcome the 7th grade class. Karns City High School is proud to add Robotics and 3D Printing to the curriculum. The AP World History, AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science Principles and AP Calculus courses continue to experience success with 80% of the students scoring a 3 or better on a 5 point scale. These courses will continue to be offered during the 2018-2019 school year. In the junior high, the 7th and 8th grade students will have six 6 week courses including some of the following: Exploratory French and German, Programming, Art, Personal Finance, Health, Physical Education, Foods and Wood Shop. The exposure to these courses will help students decide what electives they may like to take when they are in 9th grade.
The students have a new bell schedule that includes an extended homeroom period for the students to participate in clubs and activities, as well as, receive assistance in math, science, English, and history. We are looking forward to all of the students getting involved in an extra curricular activity while they are here at Karns City.
The school district continues to move forward with technology and the high school has approximately 120 new chromebooks for student use. In a time when students are growing up with technology all around them, the district strives to provide the students with resources to help enrich their educational experience.
Together with the students, staff, parents and community let’s make this another great year at Karns City Jr/Sr High School. Go Gremlins!
